REMINDERS: While Team Leaders are encouraged to text, call, and/or email their team members about their mass service dates and times, parents/grandparents are ultimately responsible for seeing that your children show up 20 minutes before mass starts on their team-assigned dates and/or for finding appropriate substitutes when they cannot serve, preferably a week in advance! And a final word from our Clergy: SERVERS ARE NOT TO LEAVE THE ALTAR AREA DURING THE SIGN OF PEACE.
The Introductory Rite: The cross bearer and the candle bearers lead the procession from the back of the church to the front. (On rare occasions where incense is used, the incense bearer would go before the cross.) Candle bearers should walk on either side of the cross, not behind. The candles always accompany the cross.
If you have at least received First Communion and would like to serve our parish in this important way, YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN THE ALTAR SERVERS MINISTRY
The Feast of Saint Joseph takes place on March 19th. March 19 always falls during Lent. It is sometimes a day of abstinence. This explains the custom of St. Joseph tables being covered with meatless dishes. If the feast day falls on a Sunday other than Palm Sunday, it is observed on the next available day, usually Monday, March 20, unless another solemnity falls on that day. Since 2008, if St Joseph's Day falls during Holy Week, it is moved to closest possible day before 19 March, usually the Saturday before Holy Week.
